The church
When do we meet, and where are we?
When the people came together they were referred to as a church or collective body that met together for worship, edification, exhortation, and social reasons (Acts 20:7; Hebrews 10:23-25; I Corinthians 16:1, 2; Jude 12 et al). They were not a different church in origin or kind because of location. They were only a different group of folks in a different region doing the same things other churches of Christ did in the world. Why, because the same call is to all churches of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Thessalonians 2:14 et al.). Thus, the body, or people, are called the church of Christ or church of God, and this simply refers to the people saved and sanctified by the blood of Christ that assemble together to give glory and praise to the Father. The building where we meet is not the church.
The churches of Christ in the first century met
on the first day of the week, specifically, for worship and praise (cf., Acts
20:7). As mentioned above, the churches also met for other reasons pertinent to
the cause of Christ. Here are the specific times of when we meet in Roanoke.
Please feel free to stop by anytime! All are cordially invited.
